COMMUNICATIVE SITUATION "IMPULSE - REACTION" BY THE EXAMPLE OF D. MITCHELL'S WORK "CLOUD ATLAS"

Abstract. The article is devoted to the peculiarities of functioning of dialogic and monologic speech in artistic prose by the example of the novel by the British author David Mitchell "Cloud Atlas" (2004). The choice of this topic is due to the heightened interest in the study of communicative situations in modern linguistics. The author, basing herself on this work, for the first time explores the speech situation taking into account a reacting replica or action. After studying the example of communicative situation "impulse - reaction" the conclusion is made that the most common methods of impulse are imperative and categorical imperative.
