EXAMPLES OF XINJIANG OIRATS’ POETICAL FOLKLORE IN THE POPULAR SCIENCE JOURNAL "KHAN TENGER"

Abstract. The article describes the examples of Xinjiang Oirats’ poetical folklore published in the quarterly popular science journal "Khan Tenger" indicating their genre affiliation. Published folkloric texts testify for genre variability of Oirats’ oral folklore, its uniqueness and originality. Popular science journal "Khan Tenger" is, in fact, a multivolume collection of oral tradition of the Oirats who are one of the branches of Kalmyk people residing in Russia. The author represents the basic Oirat folklore genres which were common and still are common among the people. Poetical folklore texts are translated from the Oirat "Clear script" into the modern Russian language.
