ARGENTINEAN MEDIA GROUP CLAR?N: THE RELATIONS WITH ADMINISTRATION KIRCHNER AND THE ROLE IN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS 2015

Abstract. The article deals with the relationship of the largest Argentinean media group Clar?n (Spanish for "horn") with the executive power in the period from 2005 to 2015. After Nestor Kirchner’s presidency the policy of new administration in relation to private media changed dramatically in the direction of an open information confrontation. Special attention is paid to the coverage of presidential elections in 2015 by the leading Argentinean newspaper Clar?n , its role in the promotion of a candidate from the opposition bloc Mauricio Macri. The author analyzes the visual accompaniment of publications of the newspaper Clar?n , genre and language features of election materials, their subject matter and evaluation of candidates’ coverage.
