Abstract. The article discusses the functioning of neologisms in the German youth slang, the study of which becomes increasingly relevant in terms of expanding international contacts. The paper considers the notion of the German slang and the tendency of youth language enrichment, as well as the peculiarities of neologisms in the German youth slang. The authors mark a range of topics, in which neologisms are most common, in order to determine a stable thematic range. Main attention is paid to the analysis of the ways of neologisms formation by the material of the contemporary German-language magazines.
