THE WAYS OF DIMINUTIVE CHARACTER PRESERVATION IN TRANSLATION (BY THE MATERIAL OF WORKS OF ART IN THE RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES)

Abstract. The article presents the contrast-comparative analysis of the ways to preserve the diminutive character when translating literary texts from Russian into English and vice versa. The features of diminutives as emotive language signs, which preservation ensures the completeness of translation, are described. The functioning of a diminutive category is analyzed at the lexical and syntactic levels with the emphasis of similarities and differences in the Russian and English languages.
