Abstract. The article examines the methods to form communicative skills at the lessons of Russian as a foreign language, discovers the educational potential of folkloric material. The description of methodical techniques to work with military paroemia is made considering the specifics of military higher school and military students’ future profession. The author argues that understanding Russian paroemia is one of the evaluation criteria of linguo-sociocultural competence level.
