FROM THE HISTORY OF SCHOOL ESSAYS ON LITERATURE: "ESSAY RETURN" PROBLEM

Abstract. The article presents a brief history of school essay conceptions. The author identifies the purposes, content and methods of teaching essay at the each of the proposed stages, describes the scientists-methodologists’ contribution to the formation of school essay collection. The research findings correlate with the problem of "essay return" in the school literary education. The paper mentions the arising contradictions, actualizes the role of methodology when settling them.
