Abstract. The article presents the analysis of speech means of information influence which are used in the printed texts of mass media on phonological, lexical and grammatical (morphology and syntax) levels. The author draws a parallel between the ancient names of rhetorical techniques and modern linguistic terms used to denote speech means of information influence. The continuity of linguistic traditions is considered as the basis for the success of the linguistic analysis of mass media texts phenomena under study.
