Abstract. The article analyzes the participation of the founder of cultural-historical school in Russian literary criticism A. N. Pypin in "Otechestvennye Zapiski (Native Proceedings)" journal in 1853-1858. Just in this period of his career his scientific interests developed, the circle of his acquaintance widened to include many representatives of Russian science and literature, his first appearance in the periodical press occurred. The paper provides archival materials.
