ENGLISH ZOOMORPHIC NAMES OF THE MILITARY AIRCRAFT THROUGH THE PRISM OF METAPHOR

Abstract. The article aims to study English zoomorphic names of the military aircraft. The author identifies the specifics of formation and functioning of zoomorphic names on the basis of metaphorical transfer. The paper analyzes the efficiency level of zoomorphic metaphor on naming the military aircraft. The analysis indicated that metaphorical transfer of meaning on aviation equipment naming can be considered as a representation of military realia through the prism of human mind and experience.
