THE CONVENTIONALITY AS THE COMMON ARTISTIC DEVICE OF MODERNISM AND AVANT-GARDE DRAMATIC ART

Abstract. One of the indicators of the aesthetic continuity of modernism and avant-garde is the poetics of conventionality. The comparative analysis of the artistic system of Velimir Khlebnikov’s dramaturgic works ("Mrs. Lenin", "The World Backwards", "Marquise Dezes") with the "new drama" of modernists, in particular, with the plays by Maurice Maeterlinck ("The Blind", "The Unknown Guest" and others) allows including the dramatic creativity of the representatives of modernism and avant-garde into the common paradigm of the so-called "conventional drama".
