ORIGINAL AND TRANSLATED TEXTS AS THE PRODUCTS OF THE TWO DIFFERENT SEMIOTIC SYSTEMS (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE PLAY BY E. ALBEE "THE ZOO STORY" AND ITS TRANSLATION INTO RUSSIAN)

Abstract. Within the framework of the article the original and translated texts of the plays are examined as the products of the different sign systems. As an example the author analyzes the fragment of one of the plays by E. Albee. Since the analyzed translation was created under the absence of the developed traditions of the theatre of absurdity in the receiving (Soviet) culture and, consequently, was a product of a different sign system than the original text, the researcher proposes a hypothesis that the complete and successful decoding of a literary work was greatly complicated.
