THE ORIGINALITY OF "EUROPEAN LETTERS" BY W. K?CHELBECKER

Abstract. The article deals with the issue of originality of "European Letters" by W. K?chelbecker who synthesized the genre of "travel" with the genre of "letter". The author ascertains the genre specificity of undeservedly forgotten work of the Decembrist and analyzes the peculiarities of its literary form. During the research three distinctive features in comparison with similar works are noted: the use of fantastic techniques, the depth of philosophical thoughts and the handling of traditional mythopoetic methods.
