LINGUOCULTURAL IMPORTANCE OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IN EUROPE

Abstract. The article is devoted to the English language of international communication in Europe, or European lingua franca. The paper evaluates its linguocultural importance as a linguistic tool of globalization processes. The author analyzes the language policy of the European Union in relation to the English language from the viewpoint of preserving European multiculturalism and multilingualism under the modern conditions of its large-scale propagation and influence in the world.
