Abstract. The article considers euphemisms as a means of nomination in the sphere of professional activity. The author concludes that the need to use euphemisms is often dictated by the social conventionalities and human culture, and this is the manipulative influence of euphemisms. The idea is substantiated that euphemisms do not only improve the speech, but often complicate the perception when the content is substituted by the form of its expression.
