Abstract. Within the framework of the theory of lexical grammar in relation to identifying lexico-grammatical status of the impersonal verbal lexemes the paper examines the mechanism for the interaction of lexical and grammatical semantics and the principle of their compatibility in the structure of a word. The author emphasizes that the category of person as well as the category of number is not indifferent to the lexical semantics, because the structure of their paradigms depends on the nature of lexical meaning of a certain verb.
