EPONYMY AS A MEANS FOR EUPHIMIZATION OF SPEECH (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE)

Abstract. The article examines the euphemistic function of eponyms by the material of the English euphemisms of toilet subject. Special attention is paid to the interpretation and analysis of the mechanisms for the formation of euphemisms-eponyms of the English language. The author identifies euphemisms-eponyms formed by the combination of different techniques of euphimization. Comparing the English, Russian and Polish euphemisms-eponyms the researcher reveals similar features in the use of eponymy in different languages.
