Abstract. The article analyzes the classical Russian dramatic fairy tales of the 1930-1940s from the standpoint of the conceptions created by folklorists V. Ya. Propp and E. M. Meletinsky. The author considers how the structural elements of the fairy tale poetics, revealed and described in the works of these scholars, found expression and rethinking. The features of the authors’ individual style that led to the transformation of the traditional fairy tale characters and plot situations in their works are identified.
