MEN’S VERBAL BEHAVIOUR IN THE HUMOROUS DISCOURSE (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE ENGLISH "EVERYDAY" ANECDOTES)

Abstract. The article examines men’s verbal behaviour in the aspect of gender differences of the verbal expression of emotions. The author touches on the gender specifics of the verbal expression of emotions, discovers the general regularities in the English humorous discourse. In the English "everyday" anecdotes the following linguistic means are identified in the men’s speech: negatively marked vocabulary, interjections, intensifiers, unprintable vocabulary, elliptic constructions, inverted and elusive sentences, repetition.
