Abstract. The article examines the degree of impact of common cultural and general-linguistic factors on individual cognitive and linguistic peculiarities. The paper attempts to describe idiolect as a semiotic structure, possessing cumulative function of "memory". The idiolect seems to be the manifestation of some mental-contextual space that allows identifying it with the author’s idiostyle. Resonating with the chronotopos of M. M. Bakhtin and intertextuality of J. Kristeva, the concept of idiolect (idiostyle, in case of literary works) becomes crucial for understanding and analysis of the category of authorship.
