SYNTACTIC FUNCTIONS OF THE INFINITIVE IN THE MARI AND GERMAN LANGUAGES

Abstract. The article presents qualitative characteristics of the Infinitive, examines the history of its development in the different language systems (Mari and German), enumerates the existing forms and identifies the most frequent in the language, provides comparative analysis of the Infinitive. The author touches on the peculiarities of the Infinitive in the mentioned languages, focuses on its meaning and syntactic functions and identifies the similarities and differences in the Mari and German languages.
