BORROWED SET EXPRESSIONS FROM THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE: DIRECT BORROWING OR LOAN TRANSLATION? (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE MODERN GERMAN AND RUSSIAN LANGUAGES)

Abstract. The article by the material of the German and Russian languages considers the borrowing of set expressions from the English language. Particular attention is paid to the identification of the role of loan translation of set expressions at present time in two European languages, which systems differ from the English language to some extent. At the same time it is ascertained what forms of borrowed set expressions (original or translated) predominate in the modern German and Russian languages.
