Abstract. The article is devoted to the expression of space in the Old English language in terms of its reflection in the lexical and grammatical patterns of English by means of collocability with one of the groups of adverbials, represented widely in the poetic monuments of the Old English epic "Beowulf". The author presents the classification of the space exponents of the Old English prepositions into two groups, namely: a group of original prepositions and a group of derivatives which are united by one common function - the object highlighting in space.
