ABBREVIATIONS IN SYSTEM OF LEXICAL PARADIGM OF NOMINATIONS

Abstract. Abbreviation as one of the most productive ways of word-formation plays a crucial role in the social-political life and culture of modern nations. Abbreviated nominations of various types enter all layers of the vocabulary of languages, being not just random words, but competent lexical units, recorded in specialized dictionaries of abbreviations. This article undertakes an attempt to consider abbreviation as an important means of lexical paradigm nominations compensation, as well as to analyze the possibility of its participation in the formation of different paradigmatic series of denomination (by the material of the English and Russian languages).
