SPEAKER’S SOCIAL STATUS AND ITS PHONETIC CORRELATES

Abstract. The article is devoted to the description of phonetic features of speech which act as indicators of the speaker’s social status. The author notes a number of segmental and, in particular, suprasegmental phenomena such as speech melodic, tempo and phrasal stress among the phonetic features which influence the creation of the right speech image.
