IMAGE OF A SHIP AND THE WAVES IN THE CELTIC MYTHOLOGY

Abstract. The article is devoted to studying the images of waves and ship in the context of Celtic myths, traditions and legends. The goal of the research is to develop the holistic conception on the role and meaning of the investigated mytho-poetical images in the Celtic mythology and to analyze their symbolism on the basis of the available Celtic legends. The originality of the research consists in the attempt to characterize the specifics of the images of sea and ship as the central images of Celtic mythology.
