Abstract. In the article the content of the concept "discourse" with reference to fiction is revealed. The author analyzes different points of view on the interpretation of this concept and develops her own approaches and criteria for its definition, and considers the correlation between the concepts of discourse and text. The idea about the presence of great number of institutional discourses in literary text is proved by concrete examples from fiction.
