Abstract. The article examines heroic legends of the Evenk But clan. But clan is one of the ancient clans of the Evenks which is settled on the large territory of the Amur region, south of Yakutia, north of Khabarovsk Territory and Sakhalin Island. Heroic legends of the But clan are voluminous in content, the artistic form differs significantly from the legends of other Evenk clans. The author reveals the peculiarities of epic traditions of the mentioned clan comparing them with the epos of other Evenk clans.
