ALTAI, KATUN, KARAKOL IN THE LITERARY HERITAGE OF G. I. CHOROS-GURKIN: FROM TOPONYM TO MYTH

Abstract. The article is devoted to the research of toponyms Altai, Katun, Karakol in G. I. Choros-Gurkin’s artistic creativity. The study of the toponymic code as the important component of the poetics of the writer’s artistic space shows that the identification and understanding of toponymic system allow expanding the spectrum of the adequate interpretation of the work, revealing the additional meanings of the text, constituting the artistic space. The author grounds the conclusion that in the regional literature the toponym not only indicates the place of action, but performs the function of converting the space into the myth.
