THE PECULIARITIES OF THE AUTHOR’S METAPHOR TRANSLATION (BY THE EXAMPLE OF W. S. MAUGHAM’S NOVEL "THEATRE")

Abstract. The article aims to explore and systematize the ways of the authors’ metaphors translation and apply them in the process of translating a literary text - S. Maugham’s work "Theatre". The comprehension and adequate expression of the language and speech facts forming the language picture of the world seems relevant. The material of the study is based on the examples taken from S. Maugham's novel "Theatre". The authors conclude that the preservation of the author's imagery of metaphor remains one of the most difficult challenges in the practice of literary texts translation.
