Abstract. The article aims to identify the role of a fabulous personage who overpowers the antagonist, overcomes the difficulties autonomously or achieves his goal with the help of the other miraculous personages and magic objects. The paper analyzes the image of the Yakut fairy tale personage who depending on the functional meaning can be classified into the two basic types: active and passive. The author examines the certain folklorists’ works focused on systematizing the types of fairy tale personages of the different nations.
