Abstract. In the article the author gives the definition of the cognitive syntagmatics of the ideas about labour in the Russian linguoculture, presents graphically the process of cognition of the elements of the surrounding world according to V. Evans and M. Green’s conception, and describes the cognitive-semantic analysis of the proverbs and anti-proverbs in order to observe the changes of the Russian native speakers’ attitudes to the considered object of the world. In the research the notions of the traditional and evolutional ideas and the ways of their representation with the help of proverbs and their transformants are strictly differentiated. On the basis of the results of the cognitive-semantic analysis of these linguistic units, the diagram, reflecting the evolutional changes of the Russian people’s ideas about labour, is drawn and the appropriate conclusions are given.
