THE CONCEPT "EARTH" IN THE CHINESE AND RUSSIAN PICTURES OF THE WORLD

Abstract. The concept as a linguistic and cultural phenomenon is a fragment of the nation’s picture of the world. The interpretation of the concept allows us to reveal the method of world perception, and also the nation’s mentality. The concept "Earth" as a key culture constant plays an important role in the consciousness of the Chinese and Russian peoples. This study with the help of dictionary interpretations and associative experiment compares the concept "Earth" in the Chinese and Russian languages, shows similar features of a concept, and also difference in the attitude of two nations to Earth.
