THE DYNAMICS OF EVALUATIVE COMPONENT OF ENGLISH BORROWINGS IN THE PROCESS OF ASSIMILATION

Abstract. The article deals with the main trends in the change of connotative meaning of borrowings with the national-cultural component during their penetration into the Russian language from neutral to negative, from negative to neutral and from neutral to positive. The authors analyze the semantic derivation which the word is undergone in the process of changing its evaluative component: expansion and narrowing of meanings, metaphorical or metonymic transfer during which the dynamics of the national-cultural component can be observed.
