NEGATIVE SUFFIXES AND PREFIXES IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IN COMPARISON WITH NEGATIVE AFFIXES IN THE CHUVASH LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article considers morphological formants as means of expression of negative meaning in the English and Chuvash languages. The most frequently used negative prefixes and suffixes of the English language in comparison with the Chuvash word building affixes with the semantics of negation are analyzed. On the basis of the comparative analysis of the texts of fairy-tales by O. Wilde in the original with their translation into the Chuvash language the formal and content correlations between prefixes and suffixes of the English language and affixes of the Chuvash language in the expression of the semantics of negation are found out.
