ON THE PROBLEM OF NATURALISM IN G. HAUPTMANN’S CREATIVE WORK (BY THE EXAMPLE OF THE ANALYSIS OF CRITICAL RECEPTION OF THE DRAMA "BEFORE SUNRISE")

Abstract. The article discusses the specifics of artistic method of the German dramatist G. Hauptmann by the example of the play "Before Sunrise". The paper identifies the dominants in the assessments of the domestic criticism at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries, analyzes the level of penetration into the author’s conception and concludes on the nature of inclusion of a foreign artistic phenomenon into the national culture.
