ON THE CORRELATION OF THE CATEGORIES "HUMANITY" AND "HUMANISM"

Abstract. The article provides an analysis of the categories "humanity" and "humanism". The author shows the semantic correlation of the phenomenon of humanity and idea of humanism in linguoculturological aspect. Analysis of the foreign and Russian etymological and explanatory dictionaries, philosophical and scientific papers, including modern, testified that humanity is a phenomenon representing the quality of a human being and human relations manifesting themselves in the society and humanism is an idea having an ideological nature and being a public property.
