SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL NATURE OF A LANGUAGE IN THE THEORIES OF THE LINGUISTS OF THE XIX-XX CENTURIES

Abstract. The article analyzes the views of the foreign and domestic scientists-linguists on the social and psychological aspects of a language in the XIX-XX centuries. The paper focuses on developing the understanding of psychologism and a critical attitude to it. The author reveals the influence of German linguists on the formation of psychological ideas in the Russian linguistics, justifies a major role of the Kazan Linguistic School in the investigation of a language from the social viewpoint. Method of experiment is reasonably adopted as the most effective technique while conducting the socio-psychological investigations of a language.
