Abstract. The article deals with the rhetorical techniques which the moderators of the German social and legal radio stations use to make their speech expressive. The paper describes such figures of speech as metaphor, epithet, comparison and oxymoron. Broadcasts of "politainment" format which represents itself one of the important phenomena of the modern western mass media served as a material for the research. The essence of this media-phenomenon consists in the presentation of political news in the form of entertainment.
