UNCODIFIED VOCABULARY IN A PROFESSIONAL DISCOURSE OF A SPECIALIST IN THE OIL AND GAS SECTOR (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES)

Abstract. The article touches upon the lexical units of the informal sphere of communication of specialists in the oil and gas industrial sector. Unlike codified lexical units (terms) the use of which is fixed by state standards and terminological dictionaries, uncodified lexical units - professionalisms and professional slang words - function in the unofficial types of discourse which are limited by the sphere of oral communication. Nevertheless, the lexical units of this type are an integral part of informal professional communication and their use is mainly conditioned by the influence of socio-linguistic factors.
