FUNCTIONS OF FOOTNOTES IN THE NARRATIVE STRUCTURE OF K. VAGINOV'S NOVELS

Abstract. In the article the functions of author's footnotes in K. Vaginov's novels are considered. Footnotes mean not only an element of paratext but also a sense-formative factor of narrative poetics. According to G. Genette's methodology, the ways of introduction into footnotes of "author's intrusions", that is direct interferences of a fictitious writer in the narrated story, are analyzed. The connections of footnote with metaplot are ascertained, the transformation of footnotes semantics from novel to novel connected with a gradual moving away of the implicit author from the narrated world is retraced.
