ON THE SEMANTICS OF A TOWEL IN THE KUBAN FAMILY RITES

Abstract. The article is devoted to the ethnolinguistic study of nominations and ritual use of a towel in the Kuban rites. With a view to identify the neologisms and universal Slavonic features the semantics of a towel realized in the texts of Kuban family rites is investigated against the background of the maternal (Ukrainian and South Russian) and related ritual traditions. In addition, the paper makes an attempt to observe the systemic relations inside all the ritual cycle by the example of a towel as an element of objective code of Kuban family rites.
