VISUALIZATION AS A LEADING TENDENCY OF MASS MEDIA DEVELOPMENT

Abstract. The article is devoted to investigating the changes in the functioning of the various kinds of mass media which were conditioned by a visual turn. The paper presents systemic description of the basic types and means of visual communication, defines the specifics of usage for each of them. The author conducted a study of the printed media related to the local press the results of which allowed visual representing changes both in design and in the activity of local papers conditioned by accentuation of the role of visual component of a journalistic material.
