Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of linguistic tense. The authors study different approaches to the definition of the notion "temporality" and its essence and consider the views of scientists on such characteristics of linguistic tense as one-dimensionality / multidimensionality, reversibility / irreversibility, order (simultaneity, precedence and succession of events).
