MAGIC AND HEALING OF POTTERS IN UKRAINIAN BYLICHKAS

Abstract. In the article the results of the study of pottery bylichkas of the second half of the XIX century - XX century which are an important information for the cognition of world outlooks, beliefs, everyday life and traditions of the Ukrainians are presented. Most bylichkas have a moralistic, didactic nature, they focus on the criminal actions of someone towards potters. The analysis of texts allows identifying the main motifs which are important for finding out the environment and circumstances of their creation, their conditionality of regional customs and the specificity of pottery functioning in Ukraine.
