ROAD IN METAPHORICAL LANDSCAPE OF THE BYZANTINE HAGIOGRAPHY

Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of the metaphor of way in the Byzantine saints’ lives. The study is based on the principles of the cognitive theory of metaphor and aims at identifying the metaphorical models depending on the notions that are denoted by means of the metaphor of way. In the course of the work the biblical and hagiographic metaphorics of way is compared, and the changes in metaphorical images development are traced.
