MOTIVES OF THE HOLY WRIT IN "THE ESSAYS ABOUT PAVLOVO" BY V. G. KOROLENKO

Abstract. The article analyzes the reception of a Biblical text in the artistic and journalistic discourse by V. G. Korolenko, investigates the image-bearing potential of "The Essays about Pavlovo" in the context of the writer’s moral and philosophical searching, reveals the degree of authenticity of a Biblical text in the consciousness of a Russian often interpreting the Holy Writ in opposition to the canon that is represented by the writer in his work of literature.
