DESCRIPTION OF STATIC LOCALIZATION IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article considers the description of the location of an object by the positional verbs of the English language, and also the dependence of the verb choice on the physical properties and spatial orientation of a figure in the spatial scene. The author revealed the informative insufficiency of the positional verbs, specified a set of contextual elements for each verb, argued that the verb choice for the description of locative situation depends not only on physical properties and spatial orientation of an object.
