CONCEPTION OF ENERGETIC CHARACTER IN THE MIDDLE LITERATURE OF THE XX CENTURY ("THEOPHILUS NORTH" BY THORNTON WILDER - "MAJOR ZVYAGIN’S ADVENTURES" BY MICHAEL WELLER)

Abstract. The article considers the novel by T. Wilder "Theophilus North" as a pre-text influencing cardinally the formation of the author’s original conception of "Major Zvyagin’s Adventures" by Michael Weller in the aspect of creation of a character’s new type. The special attention is paid not only to the continuity of "cultural memory" of M. Weller, but also to the actualization by the authors of certain values representing themselves as a basis of spiritual and practical strategy of the characters, such as: active participation in the general course of life, necessity for its reorganization on the principles of justice and kindness, harmonization of the reality.
