FUNCTION OF CONFLICT IN A PROSAIC CYCLE (BY THE EXAMPLE OF THE CYCLES BY F. SOLOGUB AND V. BRYUSOV)

Abstract. The article suggests the basic-conceptual vision of a cycle conflict, presents the original technique for the analysis of a conflict in interaction with the other cycle-forming elements. The technique was tested by the material of the cycles by F. Sologub and V. Bryusov. The author identified that the basic conflict of the cycles is a conflict of world duality which gets an original representation in the system of binary oppositions of the cycles. The researcher proved that the conflict interacts with each of the levels of the artistic cycle, manifesting itself in a greater degree at the level of subject, system of motives and chronotope.
